Derek L. Copeland

 Derek Copeland is a graduate of the University of Florida where he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. There, Derek was named the “1996 Outstanding Male Graduate,” the school’s top honor. A Tampa native and lifelong student of finance, Derek started investing in the stock market at the age of 12 with funds that he raised from mowing lawns. From that point on, financial planning has been a passion for him which he parlayed into a career he loves.

 

Derek Copeland is very active in the community, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Foundation and is President of the Board for the Steve Smith Family Foundation. In 2014, he was honored with the “Man of the Year” award from the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society in Charlotte, NC.

 

Derek and his wife Lori live in Charlotte, NC with their four young children and dog, Bandit. He enjoys golf, tennis, fishing and spending time with his family as much as possible.
